Life in Irapuato

Hey Everyone,

Honestly I've been super busy and I am sorry for not writing many emails, but I feel happy inside knowing that I get to experience all the things that I'm experiencing out here in the field, right in the heart of Mexico. There are so many things that happen, I can't take pictures of it all. I just take it in. However, I do have some pictures and that's mostly what I'll be sharing today.

We got to have a conference with Elder Ochoa of the Seventy. He and his wife gave amazing talks and we felt the spirit there really strongly. My comp and I went on some adventures last pday. We slept on the roof one day and then watched the sunrise, it was a little cold but beautiful. I've always wanted to go to this big crater in our area, so we finally did. After that, we decided to hike another one and hiked to the top of a small mountain. It was like the most fun thing I've done in months. On the 15th and 16, all of Mexico celebrated their día de Independencia! It was spectacular and we watched a parade from our house.

I'm still training a missionary in the Valle de Santiago area in the Irapuato zone, and it's been a blast. My kid is learning faster than I can teach and it's amazing to see the Spirit work through us according to our callings. Whenever we have a calling in the church, if we truly have the desire and work diligently to be the best we can be at that calling, the Spirit will work through us to achieve it. My kid is gonna be a strong missionary, I know it. I'm trying to transfer all of my knowledge to him so that he can really be a strong and reliant force in the Lord's work here. Also, I want to say that I love our new mission president, President Stapley and also his wife. They have been so kind and in the mere 3 months of being here, they've helped this mission so much already.

I have a testimony that our testimonies are powerful. I've talked to countless people who always try to counter our teachings with what they've seen and heard, but something I've learned from what Elder Holland taught us when he came to our mission about a year ago was that you should "never underestimate your testimony." I've studied the scriptures diligently and have found many answers to many questions over time, but the one thing that has helped me the most in teaching people is sharing my testimony. I actually love doing it now.

Well, that's all for now!  Love you all so much!
Elder Chamberlain
