Ahora Eres Mexicano!
Hey Everyone -
These past few weeks have been super interesting and awesome! A few Sundays ago we went to the Gonzales Family to have a Sunday meal together. It was a fast Sunday and we were fasting for success in our zone. As we were walking to their home to go eat, we heard a "meow" sound and saw a little kitten poking its head out of some barricades along the freeway . . . so we rescued it! We kept that kitty for like a week and it was pretty cool but we knew we had to let it go back into the streets. But while we were at the Gonzales' family eating, I ate this SUUUUPPPEERR hot red chili and we were outside and there wasn't anything to drink for a good 5 minutes. I WAS DYING! Finally their son, Rande, brought me a little cup with frozen ice cream in it and it felt so good. My face was sweating and actually went numb, like when your hand falls asleep. But I guess I didn't learn my lesson because the very next day I ate a habanero pepper which wasn't as bad because I was home and I was prepared with a lot of milk and water to cool me down. My companion kept saying, "Ahora eres Mexicano! ha ha" (now you are Mexican!) He was laughing pretty hard :) The next day was our P-Day and I was able to get some fun souvenirs that I will send pics of.
We had a Zone Conference a little while ago and it was cool because it changed my mind about teaching. Our main purpose is to "Find, Teach, and Baptize" then we give them over to the members. We taught a part-member family this week (the dad is a member and the mom is catholic) and I taught such a great lesson, but half of the family still didn't want to get baptized. That was hard for me to take because I really felt the Spirit while I taught but I know I am still planting seeds and it's ok.
We had lunch the other day with some old ladies from America and they were super nice. One of the ladies is a huge BYU fan so we talked a lot about Provo and that was fun to talk about home.
Instead of knocking on doors we are calling people. We call and call ALL day long. We get references from social media when people say they are interested in a church ad or something. When we finally get one who wants us to come over, they will let us give them one lesson then no more because they say they are "too busy all the time." That's frustrating . . . But, yah, I've taught some English lessons and I have even taught two piano lessons so that's cool. It's hard to teach using Spanish terms but it's always nice to be able to do something with my music.
I have a verse I'd like to share in 2 Nephi 26:24-28 and they are beautiful words because it says that "He doeth not anything save it be for the benefit of the world." Then, "Come unto me, all ye ends of the world, and buy milk and honey without money and price." Christ's gospel is free to everyone and it's so cool.
Thank you guys. I love you all. Please email me and pray that we will find people to teach who will listen.
