One Year Mark on Feb. 2nd - Season 2 starts

 Hey Everyone,

I passed my one year mark back on February 2nd!  But let me tell you about the best month ever!

So, the last two weeks of January and the first two weeks of February have been crazy. Elder Nilsen was an awesome companion who taught me a lot and who loved to see the change in people's lives from the gospel. We ended up baptising 11 people in the month of January! It was awesome, and I love seeing the light of Christ enter into people's lives and change them for the better. Elder Nilsen got transferred out of Cortázar because of some things that happened with some other elders in a different area, so we had "special transfers" and Nilsen left for Celaya and I received Elder Greenhalgh who is from Twin Falls, Idaho!

Elder Greenhalgh is such a nice guy and I feel like we're already best friends, we have so much in common. We've been working really hard these past 2 and a half weeks and we should see some baptisms coming soon from some awesome people we've found.
Some crazy things have been happening in this area though. This area by far has been the hardest on the knowledge and book-smart side of the work. I've been aked about polygamy, law of moses, the authority from God, and even if we were spies for the Iluminati. It's interesting to see how some people will look into their sources, even when they seem faithful to a different church, when the only true source that we should be looking into is God himself through prayer, which leads us to answers from revelation. One day about 2 weeks ago, Elder Greenhalgh found a guy in a public parking garage who had a new testament, and we started talking about it. Next thing u know, he starts talking to us about the angels he's seen, the devils he's spoken with, the languages that he's translated (because he apparently has the gift of tongues), and also the prophecies that he's had. He said that the US would separate into 5 countries in the next few years: New York, Chicago, California, Texas, and Florida ha ha.!  By the way, those are the top 5 American places that Mexicans know about in the U.S . Anyways, we realized he was a false prophet lol. He then asked us to pray, to which we agreed, and then he started speaking in fluent Hebrew! I knew it was Hebrew because I've heard it before, and then he put his hands on us and began "blessing us". After a short moment, we opened our eyes and looked up and he asked us why we stopped the blessing. I stood up and asked this guy who gave him the authority to do that. He then told me that the Spirit gave him the authority, and I had to explain to him that that isn't how the spirit works and that we can't receive the authority by the spirit alone. We then said we had to go, he told us "shalom" and we sat in a park because we started feeling icky. My comp was starting to stress out and wanted to call the Pres. or the A.P.'s.   After the AP answered us, they told us we needed to get a blessing from some other elders as soon as possible. So we quickly left for Celaya and we got a blessing from Elder Nilsen (my old comp) and Elder Lambson. Then we got some crepes and it was a good night. But anyways, I was already starting to feel ok on the way to Celaya, but after the blessing I felt more sure that I was safe.

So from meeting that false prophet, to getting called spies and getting bashed on about how things don't make sense in the church, I'd say it's been a pretty interesting few weeks. I've learned a lot here and I can't wait to learn more, and I'm always willing to stand up for truth. Learning also makes other questions appear, but we must push forward with faith. Faith that things will work out and that God has a plan for us.

Thank you to those who read my emails and I challenge you to study the scriptures. God wants us to grow and think for ourselves, and trust in Him and be diligent. I love you guys and hope you have a great week, or month whenever I write again.

Love you,
Elder Spencer Chamberlain
